“Without LOYAL, I couldn’t have gotten document management off the ground. It’s massive — 30 labs and 300 people, all in different locations. Imagine that.”

ABOUT ANLIS MALBRÁN

ANLIS Malbrán is a decentralized public institution under Argentina’s Ministry of Health. It coordinates institutes, laboratories, and health centers across the country and serves as a national reference institution for the prevention, control, and research of disease. It is also an important international center for microbiological research, where scientists such as Bernardo Houssay and César Milstein have worked.

Because the institute was founded to develop biological products for diagnosing and treating infectious diseases, managing the quality of its processes is essential. Mabel is one of the people who administer its Quality Management System, and she works with LOYAL daily.

FROM DROPBOX TO A CENTRALIZED SYSTEM

When Mabel started at ANLIS Malbrán in early 2009, documents were managed manually through Dropbox. With around 30 laboratories and 300 people working in different physical locations, the approach no longer held up. At one point, she says, she told herself: “Enough is enough. We have to do something, because we can’t go on like this.”

ONE SYSTEM FOR 30 LABORATORIES

ANLIS Malbrán looked at several centralized systems that could handle document management and quality assurance together. In 2013, it chose LOYAL and implemented DMS and QMS. The implementation went well, and staff adapted quickly because the system is intuitive and easy to use.

“I don’t know how I would have managed without the software. I can’t imagine it,” Mabel says. “Some other clinical laboratories use workarounds to avoid buying software, but they need an expert for that, at a very high cost.”

READY FOR ISO 17025 AUDITS

ANLIS Malbrán holds ISO 17025 accreditation from Argentina’s accreditation body, which certifies the technical competence and reliability of its analytical results. LOYAL helps the institute meet that standard.

“We have to demonstrate that we have the highest excellence in the diagnostics we produce, which is why we took on the challenge of accreditation,” Mabel says. “It is important to have a system that supports us in this process. Without LOYAL, it would have been impossible to manage the documentation of all the laboratories.”

“For ISO 17025 accreditation, the system is perfectly suited. It allows us to have everything very well organized for audits. The auditors are satisfied with the system we have implemented.” — Mabel Villarreal

FEWER INCIDENTS WITH EVERY UPDATE

Mabel keeps careful track of the incidents she reports in LOYAL, and her records show them going down. As the years went by, her team needed less and less help from the support team.

“When I evaluate you as a supplier, with every update of the system we notice a continuous improvement of the software. I am very meticulous with recording the application’s incidents, and in this spreadsheet we can see how the number of incidents reported in LOYAL is decreasing.” — Mabel Villarreal

THE HEAD OF OUR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

During the COVID-19 pandemic, employees working from home could access the system and carry out all their tasks without problems.

“LOYAL’s system allowed us to do a very good job of monitoring in this pandemic year. If we hadn’t had the software, it would have been very difficult for us. It’s wonderful. It’s the head of our management system.” — Mabel Villarreal

Mabel has recommended LOYAL to other companies in the industry. “I think it is extremely important for all laboratories to have quality management software.”
