In this opportunity, from Loyal Solutions, we share our experience with one of our clients: Verónica, a dairy company with almost a century of work and continuous growth.
The company was founded in 1923 as a small family dairy company. Later acquired by a family of Spanish immigrants, it settled in the 1960s in the dairy basin of the centre of the Province of Santa Fe. From that moment on, it began to experience constant growth, both in the variety and volume of its production and in the geographical scope of its distribution, until it became one of the most widely recognised dairy brands in Argentina.
With hard work and commitment from the entire organisation, they have earned a place of preference among argentines. Standing out mainly for the quality of its products and a determined policy of reinvestment in infrastructure and technology, Verónica seeks continuous improvement in all its processes.
On this occasion, we met with Héctor Spedaletti, in charge of Process Management and Quality Assurance, so that he could tell us about his experience with Loyal and the modules implemented throughout these years.
Héctor told us that in 2006 the company started up a line of powdered milk, with the main objective of exporting this new product. It is at this point that SENASA, the agency in charge of controlling federal traffic and imports and exports of products, by-products and derivatives of animal origin, highlights some critical points.
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) is a management system that aims to ensure food safety by identifying and controlling the potential hazards that may be present. In Argentina, the Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service) makes the implementation of HACCP mandatory in all establishments under its jurisdiction.
Veronica has several production lines. As a matter of business focus, we aimed at exportable products: powdered milks. Therefore, we took into account the critical points pointed out by SENASA and we realised that incorporating such a system would bring us many advantages for our goal of exporting.
So they decided to incorporate a software that would allow them to organise their documentation in a more efficient and agile way, and thus achieve a better monitoring of their processes so that it would be easier to detect errors early on.
The search for and implementation of the system was intuitive. We couldn’t keep making the same mistakes. Previously, for anything that was requested in an audit, we had to run out and modify it on all three sites. It was madness.
Hector tells us that the implementation was successful and that they now use the Loyal system in all three plants. In this case, Veronica decided to implement the DMS and QMS modules, which work together to achieve better traceability of documentation and all quality-related processes, such as FSSC 22000 food safety certification.
The training with the consultant was very satisfactory. Today we have an excellent relationship with Luis. When there is an issue to be solved, we can discuss it calmly, both from one side and the other, as we both know the system very well. This facilitates communication and progress.
In its three industrial plants, equipped with the most advanced systems and process technology, Verónica transforms more than 360 million litres of milk into top quality products every year. They are located in the heart of the most important dairy basin in Argentina, just a few kilometres away from important urban and distribution centres such as the cities of Cordoba, Rosario and Buenos Aires. This allows them to easily reach the main distribution centres.
It is important that all plants work under the same system and that their documentation is organised to guarantee the quality of their products from the reception of the raw material to the delivery of the finished products, achieving certifications that allow them to be always at the highest standards of safety.
We have been using Loyal for many years and without the kind of document management that the system provides, we would have been repeating mistakes all the time. Veronica not only has several production lines, but we have three plants and it is necessary to have good communication between all of them. The power and organisation that the system gave us is invaluable.
In the context of the pandemic, employees were able to access the Loyal Solutions system from home without any problems. Hector tells us that the system provides a huge back-up for all company documentation and that everyone needs to engage with it to achieve continuous improvement.
We value Loyal because of all the extra work we leave out, as it makes a lot of things easier. The product is undoubtedly very good. It has given us excellent results. During the pandemic, we continued to work in the same way we had been doing.
